What if they made that vehicle FOR the server? --- End quote --- What I meant was, if it's a vehicle/weapon, yeah release it at somepoint, but if it's a server specific script, then do what you please with it. |

--- Quote from: Kinlord999 on November 06, 2013, 05:21:57 PM ---I think personal add-ons are bad. People say that they're for server appeal but seriously, why does having your server 100% full matter that much? Users play whatever they want to. Having a personal add-on for your own little 'fanclub' and to collect players is idiocy. All finished addons should be public. --- End quote --- You sound like you are just pissed that you weren't given a sepcific personal/private add-on What if I made a sandvich and took in into my classroom do I have to give pieces from that sandvich to every single classmate I have just because we are in the same class? That is dump, and I bet you wouldn't do that I also bet if you had made a private add-on you would just brag about it and never give it to anyone. also: --- Quote ---Having a personal add-on for your own little 'fanclub' and to collect players is idiocy. --- End quote --- Honestly, that is just plain handicapped. So you mean, than if there is an add-on that not every server is hosting, that the ones that DO have it are considered a fan-club. And who the forget is collecting players? You can't say that players play where they want, and then say that if you play a server alot then you are a 'fan-boy' and got collected. And anyways, nobody is talking about full playerlist here. It's not even about popularity in most cases, it's just to make the server more enjoyable for players. Your argument is invalid. |

Better go out and make sure the sky isn't being knocked down by all these flying pigs. Honestly, I'm not sure drawing the line between personal and private is sufficient. Like what if one person creates an add-on specifically for another person's server? Not made by the host -> boot it out the door? What about in Elm's case, where he commissioned bricks for his server? I think the safest policy would be "If you got your hands on it, you're free to give it to whomever you like." WOULD be, if not for the ability to go fishing around in the cache to get the content files of other add-ons, or in the case of bricks, nearly the entire add-on. |
| Conservative:
This type of mindset makes me feel like I am required to release any brick pack I make, whether or not it is finished, all because some admin on these forums "doesn't believe in that stuff". As such, it actually damages my desire to create further bricks for Blockland. I don't care about players reaching into the cache and grabbing the files, I know there is no way around that, but players uploading the bricks to the official forums without my permission and not being punished pisses me off, I'd prefer that I have full control over my add-ons to do whatever I please with it, along with protection from higher authority if it gets out of hand. |
