Even the free version of unity can also be used commercially and is massively cross-platform, so if you actually end up with something cool you can distribute it on windows, windows phone / windows 8 store (however those 2 require windows 8), mac, linux, android, ios (however ios requires that you have a mac because apple), etc

If you make like 200,000$ off a unity game in a year don't you have to buy it?

That's what the license allows.

Because if you get $100,000 from your game you're obviously unable to buy a $1500 license, right?
