Donation Systems for Servers

And i would have to agree with the donation system. I've never been spiteful of tezuni's donation system.

Ignoring whatever quality issues there are on Tezuni's server, I'd be really happy to have a very popular server.
And if people were happy to donate to it, I don't think I'd complain.

People donate out of the goodness of their hearts. I've donated tons of stuff, free steam games, money, etc. It doesn't really require an award.
However when you put in some kind of reward of VIP system, things become so much more about "I want that" and there tend to be more donations, but for the bare minimum.
Do you guys think making in-game content for donations is right/fair?

Psp convinced me to open donations to raise the $35 he wanted for the domain name he jacked. When I told him I haven't received any donations a month later, that's what he told me. I sold my iPod a couple weeks ago to pay for hosting, and when I confronted him to buy the domain, he wouldn't give it up anymore. I didn't really want to give in-game advantages that actually affect the gameplay, I just don't think that's fair.
