Donation Systems for Servers
Lego lad:
I think people who donate should get some sort of title, like the ones on pecon's server.
It does not help them dominant in TDM's, or anything. All it does it show they donated.

I live in a small neighborhood and it seems every kid is desperate for money, I can only do a small paper route for barely any cash.

Tezuni also uses what donations he reaps to keep the server(s) running. They pay his RTB hosting bills.

Speaking of tezuni, if you end up choosing a donation system, there are some good ways to get perks automatically, ex http://tezuni.com
(also VIP isn't 20 dollars)

Even with 71 VIP purchases at $10, it'd only be $710. More people probably bought VIP in the $5 days (I did $10). Although a couple people paid over the minimum amount, most people did not.

I think it depends. I don't think giving someone huge, gamebreaking benefits for donating is fair (like gamefandan's +100000 level boost) but vanity content or small benefits is fine imo. Or like a cash shop where you can unlock other things by using either an ingame currency or real money, but again nothing game-breaking.

I'm curious whether anybody that has donation systems is reporting them on tax forms.
