Donation Systems for Servers

PeeEsPee:
He has 71 VIPs for 10+ donations each, but that also counts VIPs before the limit was 10 (was 5) and people who donated over 10 dollars, which there are many of. Speaking of tezuni, if you end up choosing a donation system, there are some good ways to get perks automatically, ex http://tezuni.com

(also VIP isn't 20 dollars)

--- Quote from: Kalphiter² on May 29, 2013, 03:07:01 PM ---1) Everybody who has set up the donation feature has a "donation profile"
2) On this "donation profile" page, the person must specify his monthly costs and the amount of servers, as well as a description of each.
3) There is a count of how much money this person has received, so if costs are covered, people can choose whether they want to donate anyway

For number 3, there could be some way to track all the donations and how long ago they were.

Tezuni has alot of donators - not enough for $700 (£439)
$trinick:
$700 isn't a ridiculous amount of money over mulitple years by anyone's standards. Working part time at McDonalds will net you that much money in a month. Even if Tezuni did make $700, the rate at which he made it kind of defeats the purpose of even asking.

However, I am a huge fan of the idea of donation systems for servers. If every single active Blockland user donated $5 a month to their favorite server, really good servers could potentially bring in hundreds of dollars a month to support progressive development of their servers. As popularity falls, income falls too. What better incentive to make your server the best possible? Not to mention, the work required to create and host a high quality server definitely justifies some kind of benefit.
