these types of threads should be bannable
they are just spam by now.

I hate when people say they looked bad. they weren't crCIA or anything like that but they looked fine and were fun to play around with.
honestly I miss them but i like shaders and bots much more and I wouldn't go back
I also think that the new update really makes people work more, since you can't just litter a few boxes around a pre-made map anymore. It makes people be creative.

and anyway, isn't a built version of a default map better? you can edit it as opposed to the real version.
i'd love it if someone transferred slopes into modter.
Um actually since they got rid of maps people got lazy, what the forget you thinking? Why do you think we have so much more family rps and stuff more than we did?

someone's mad, lol
it's the same amount there's always been

no it's not

In other news: Steve Jobs is dead

no it's not
We have more people that have joined Blockland in the time span between the removal of the bedroom and now; obviously the amount is going to increase.
In terms of ratio though; it's about the same.

But..
but that's not a deskpalm
that's a deskface

a deskpalm would just be slapping the table

These threads need to stop. MAPS ARE NOT COMING BACK.

What happened to that petition to get these threads banable?

these are just a few pictures i found in the DOF screenshots thread
maps have the potential to be much better looking than shaders if implemented correctly, stop bandwagoning they're really quite pretty and funner to play on when done properly.

when done properly.
I guess that was the major problem. There wasn't an obvious and easy way to do them properly so that other updates could come easily like S&S. Although that hasn't exactly been backed up by any new updates since v21

staged screenshots through filters, amazing!
those mountains look like garbage when actually being played on, lol

a game from 2004 shouldn't require a $200 graphics card to run at full settings
users shouldn't spend $800 on a whole expensive pc to run it
calling every other computer a "toaster" only shows what a pampered brat you are

My sub-$500 comp can run it at full settings with very rare slowdowns (read: only when ghosting). Worth noting that my GPU (GTX 650, and NOT Ti or Ti Boost) is generally considered to not be the best and my CPU is pretty outdated (Athlon II).

Also, v0002 ran on an older version of the Torque engine compared to v3/v1.0 in 2007. If wasn't older, then it ran on a much more barebones version without all of Badspot and Kompressor's modifications. Even now, the engine's been modified further since 2007.

huh, i have a 650TiB, how about that
didn't even know the original wasn't so great

well, considering the Ti/Ti Boost are like $10-$20 more than the regular 650 and are a hell of a lot better, it's just not worth saving that $10-$20.

Someone please kill me already.

I only ever liked Slopes and Bedroom, all others were boring.  Interiors were always glitchy with brick placement.  Also, I never remember seeing a fantastic, well-liked, well-built build (not minigame) on an I&T map.  All good builds had been on Slate and its various edits.  Many good minigame servers were fun on I&T, I especially loved fort wars in the Bedroom.

I would not want I&T added back in, but think about what would happen if S&S and I&T coexisted together at the same time.  S&S wouldn't even work with interiors because the ceiling in maps like the Bedroom would eliminate S&S's effects, rendering S&S useless for interiors.  The entirety of the Bedroom would be in darkness, except where light comes in from the window.
It would actually be nice if s&s and I&T co-existed-- if baddy rewrote all the code for T&I, and for the bedroom issue, there's a cool thing called a light bulb that could be just like the sun. Fascinating, right?

you are a genius, OP
no one has ever thought of having interiors and terrain AND shadows and shaders
