Bisjac:
does every game you guys play have to be literally role playing as a lego minifig?

i mean thats really all the maps were.
ChexGuy331:
Your focus should be on the build, not the map surrounding it.

Yes, there are cases where builds like Blocko BLUPO are enhanced by the map. Thing is, if taking away the map really detracts from your build that much, there's probably something wrong.

SailorMan:
I agree with Tezuni. I can't even see the shadows and shaders, so its like it was just a removal of terrain and stuff. I mean yeah, it encourages people to build, but now that the Interiors and Terrain is gone, I do kind of miss them a bit. Probably because I went on them when I was like 12, and enjoyed them back in the day. Its weird..
shyGriff:
i've said this in almost every thread like this but i do prefer maps to shadows and shaders, especially since i can't see them other than on minimum, and on minimum i lag to death
i know it's my fault for having a bad computer or whatever but that's just my opinion
i just think maps were really fun, i don't get why everyone suddenly thinks they looked ugly, the only ugly maps were the ones made by people who didn't know much at all about making maps (like me)
there were some really nice maps

It's not an exaggeration to say that the majority of players (50%+) do NOT use them.

Because the feature isn't server side, clients WILL turn them off when advantageous on a map.

Why is it Heed is always alone defending interiors?  It's like he's the only one that thinks for himself here.

Interior maps were more fun than just slate variations.  We were told it had to go to allow for better things.  OK, we got some well-inteded, but gameplay flawed shadows.

IMO, that's not better than interiors, not by a long shot.  So it's not unreasonable to be quite unsatisfied with the fact, that after 2 years, it's all we got in the trade off.

basically this
and yes i know maps are almost definitely never coming back so there's not much point in talking about them, but idk
