To those still completely in the dark, Cracked is a humor website where there are articles about funny things, as well as photoshop battles and other stuff. Cracked.com is just an extension of the magazine of the same name.

After doing some research, the anti-virus "Avast" successfully detects the malware downloaded by cracked through full-computer scans.

So...why did they do this? Did they just say "forget it" and attacked their users?

I went there, nothing. Checked my task manager, mem filtered, nothing.
False alarm.

I visit the website from time to time, I never downloaded anything from it though.
Drive-by malware is usually automatically downloaded to your computer upon visiting some or all pages of the site

Task manager won't help you if there's a rootkit involved

Update 2013-11-14:

One of the site administrators (David Wong) of cracked.com has posted to their forums that the team fixed the problem Tuesday afternoon. hxxp://www.cracked.com/forums/index.php?topic=144437.msg2757527#msg2757527

Gee another topic comes to mind...
Shut your trap and don't be an ass.
what's with the random people being butthurt about nothing lately
it's getting rather mundane

by definition, drive-by malware is not consciously hosted by the site. most of the time it's injected into servers so people get infected just by showing up, cracked is an actual company with business interests that don't align with giving all their customers malware.

You can dish it but you can't take it.
he's not butthurt he's pointing out your hypocrisy

And since I didn't even have to spell it out for Electrk to figure it out, an you didn't, let me explain.

In the previous topic you get defensive about people "attacking" you for not knowing about the subject matter,
uh, huh
what's the with the butthurt lashing out over... nothing...

But then you go and "lash" out at a bunch of people for not knowing the subject matter here.

some random cigarette on youtube ≠ renowned entertainment site of six years
the comparison here is so stupid i can't believe

Just because you know of something/someone doesn't mean everyone else should. Cracked could be "some random site" for someone and the "random youtuber" could be really important to a person.
