Author Topic: How Do I NOT Suck At Drawing?  (Read 1446 times)

If you really want to draw, then practice. Practice until you're goddamn sick of it then do it twice as much. Only then will you get better.

I always wanted to be an artist but I just don't have the patience needed to learn the skill to a degree where it's profitable or enjoyable for me.

Well OP, you're drawing sucks just like mine.  Drawing was never that interesting to me though.

Well, gee, you're a real downer.

@OP: It's not just practice. Yes, that's a large part of it, but you also need to simply be observant. Look at anything and everything in a new light, as if you were going to draw your life on paper. And every once in a while, you should draw some of your life on paper - once I just looked at my hand, noticed the cool lines in my palm, and decided to sketch it. Do stuff like this and you'll get better, regardless of whether you have natural artistic skills or not.

Everything I go to draw looks horrible in proportion and weird

I also can't get what  Imagining down on the paper properly.

Why can't drawing and I just be friends?

Just keep going. Don't be a bitch and complain a lot, it gets you nowhere. Use references occasionally.

Practice.
