Author Topic: Looking For Pirate/Naval Combat Games  (Read 1492 times)

About a week ago I rented (and re-rented, am still playing) Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (tl;dp pirate booty arrr genetics something something Templars) and am having stupid amounts of fun with the naval combat. Of course the game ends eventually and there's only so much to it, so I'm off looking for other games.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a shortage of pirate and/or naval combat games that would interest me. Sid Meier's Pirates is up there but I'm not sure it's what I'm looking for. Any other suggestions?

Pirates not necessarily required, but, seems to suit it more than just "naval combat."

I have Guns of Icarus and play it occasionally but it's in the air and the ships are asymmetrical and aaaa.
It's fun but not what I'm wanting.

Empire: Total War, Napoleon: Total War, and Rome II: Total War have naval combat in them.

Have you tried Navy field?

So do the Civ games and every other strategy game ever. I'm not looking for this.

Looked it up. Maybe. The fact there's a "Windows 7 support download" concerns me, though.

I totally forgot I own this.

Also I looked up Pirates of the Caribbean Online for ships and giggles and it apparently got shut down.

The new Assassin's Creed game is surprisingly good.
Excellent game, especially for an Assassin's Creed. They throw out almost all of the modern day crap, and it's hardly about assassins vs templars. Just a ninja pirate guy gettin phat lewt

Does this look like Civilization to you?

I mean, I really don't care whether you get them or not, but I can't believe you compared Total War to Civilization...

It's one Civilization, not Civilizations.
And no, they don't look the same, but they are comparable in some ways. I'm sorry if I offend you in thinking that.

I can understand you saying that just by looking at the campaign map, but you have to actually look into the gameplay.
Oh, and I modified my post.

If you want something in a more western MMORPG sense, Uncharted Waters Online http://uwo.ogplanet.com/en/main.og;jsessionid=8929930D3F765E21783C6526C7E1C71C is a favorite of mine. You can't run around your ship like Assassins Creed or Pirates of the Caribbean Online, but it's far more strategically based. I like it because the trading system is one of the most thought out and intuitive of its kind. Give it a try!

Sid Meier's Pirates is good, but it hasn't aged all that well.
