If we're expecting many new members, we should have another section

yeah. introduction threads in a dedicated section generally get several replies, more depending on how big the community is, as opposed to the one, or two if you're lucky, responses you'd get in that one big thread for it

Nah, I don't want to make people feel obliged to do it, nor do I feel like this forum is small enough to justify new member introductions.

oh yeah
well i guess it could get added but it'll probably get ignored on a whole
if everyone ignores it no harm done
if people respond then that's good
as long as there's not a bigger suggestion like removing the drama section
