If we're expecting many new members, we should have another section

well everyone flames whoever makes a "i'm new" topic so...
but then again it's probably because of how many ALTS are here
maybe you could try an "I'm new!" megathread
i've seen that in the past
just a thread filled with i'm new posts
no topics
get's the job done
unless there's an issue with it
like no one other than new people will read it

which is dumb and weird
nobody new would know that anyway, and if many of them have ever used another forum, some would certainly make a topic saying hello. whether or not there's a section for it. which is why there should be. because 1. who wants a bunch of topics just flopping about and 2. it should have been there from the beginning because people need to introduce themselves

I've only ever seen that on one forum and it was a bad way of doing it. it's just cluttered and nobody pays attention to it at all
