Maybe then split it up into a beginner and an advanced tutorial.

I agree with this. Maybe there can be a advanced tutorial you unlock after completing the first, more basic one, so they can begin to learn some of the more advanced, useful and powerful parts of the game.

Press ctrl + 0 (on the numpad) to start a macro, and press ctrl + 0 again to stop it.
When a macro is recording, every time you move, plant, change color and ctrl + z a brick, that will be recorded and when you press ctrl + numpad enter your character will automatically replicate the macro you have recorded. Keep in mind that the macro will not work correctly if you turn your character more than ~90 degrees to either way and keep on building with the controls "changed".
Macros are great for server without the duplicator but can also be really helpful if the duplicator is present. Myself I use macros all the time as they usually don't forget up as often as the duplicator. (As in, duplicating more bricks than you want)
