I don't think you're factoring in all the dead and infected AIDS victims in Africa who could still be alive or healthy if they didn't believe that contraceptive use would land them eternal punishment after death.

i totally agree.  i think it's mostly twisted people who just wanted to use religion to benefit themselves or they were deluded by wrong interpretations.  it is clear in the bible to not judge others, but there are people like the WBC who just completely misinterpret it.

that's what the biggest problem with many christians today is honestly.  many of them are complete idiots who misinterpret or ignore parts of what it means to be a christian.

this is one thing i still have an issue with in catholicism.  we literally finally have 99.9% effective contraceptives and they're "immoral".  has the pope said anything specific about contraceptives?  i'm sure he would still support anti-contraceptive considering he's catholic though.

He's made comments on how the church is too 'focused on contraceptives' but he hasn't retracted any of the statements or condemnations against contraceptive use. I think it's fair to blame him too, since he's in the perfect position of power to do that.

I have no problem with him "condemning" anything really, but he is speaking to the religious masses that shoving their beleifs down everyone's throats is terrible, especially when it is regarding politics and law; they should respect the other's choices. That's why he is a good man.

because condoms kind of support the anti- love before marriage thing (assuming when people are married they dont have a need for condoms)
and they support the idea of having multiple partners.

i still dont know why old school christians prefer the idea of 1 partner for life. and only when you are married. i dont remember when in the bible that is demanded by god.

but i do remember the many many many parts all over the damn book that support having multiple wives, slave wives, underage wives.

he is in the perfect position of power, but it's still just a part of catholic ideas.  the idea (and please bear in mind this is strict catholic doctrine, obviously you don't have to follow this if you don't want to be 100% catholic lol this is just what i've learned in a catholic high school) is that:

      a. Premarital love
         i. Disregards fundamental meanings of love
            1) Physical expression of the union between a husband and wife
            2) Involves mutual self-giving and total acceptance of the other
            3) Total commitment to another
            4) Generally not life-giving

the belief is that love should happen between a married husband and wife, and that it should create children, period.  contraceptives interrupt the creation of life from love and therefore aren't allowed.

idk either, i guess it just seems more "normal" for typical christians/catholics.  they may have multiple girlfriends/boyfriends throughout life but w/e.

1. He supports the persecution of homoloveuals, as every past pope has done.
2. He condones scientific ignorance, (again) as did all the past popes.
3. He's still the leader of the world's largest for-profit child brothel.

And these are just a few I can name off the top of my head in the 2 minutes it took me to type this up.
