im tearing my loving hair out trying to make this autoexec.cfg stuff work
i want to change the viewmodel and this is how my autoexec.cfg file looks like

i did exactly as it says yet it refuses to write the viewmodel commands
the only thing that takes effect is the echo command which i can see in console

I had the same problem. Add
--- Code: ---host_writeconfig
--- End code ---
to the end of your .cfg and it'll work. My .cfg only had problems with overwriting viewmodels, but everything else worked. Added that code and it started 100% fine after that.
