The brick menu could have number pad support for faster brick selection. When one opens the brick menu he could quickly select the tab by pressing 1 - 9 and 0, then the group in the tab, the brick in the tab, and then finally the placement in the brick selector.

It is not without its problems, if there are 11 bricks, or tabs in a group a more versatile solution has to be used. Perhaps presses enter after typing any number to confirm the selection.
This will help augment the incredibly helpful favorite brick buttons. In five keystrokes a favorited (but needed) brick will be added.
The keystrokes 1 1 2 3 would cause the example below.
Also : Currently the num pad buttons move the ghost brick while in the brick menu.
