Great work taking what I said and completely exaggerating it.

Let's take a moment to look at Chernobyl, an actual wasteland:



Who would have thought, there's more colours than brown!?

Like I said, it doesn't look exciting. Why don't you try adding some grass, or barrels of different colours.
Maybe sheet metal from a freight container? That can be nice colours.
Even little shacks can have a little colour.

I'm not saying to make the world a great big rainbow, even washed out colours add a lot more visual depth to a build like this.

Or, you can do what I do, and paint everything normally and just use the environment to change the visual ambiance of the build. Accompany that with some well chosen music/environment loops and you've got a pretty atmospheric thing going on.
