The sun WILL NOT EXPLODE. It has too little mass for that to happen.

It can still die, which while it wont be a supernova, it will still wipe out any nearby planets, including earth. if it somehow doesn't hit any farther planets, or even earth, the earth will be violently flung in a random direction for us to float about in space, supercooling the earth enough to eventually turn the oxygen into liquid.

Though to be fair, our star isn't supposed to die for a few more billion years.

Not much of a comfort considering if that stuff even gets close to the Earth everything dies, assuming everything hasn't already. And that's also assuming that the sun hasn't already used its fat ass to devour the entire planet.
