Why were the forums down?

CloudFlare didn't have any error for me. It just said it was a problem with the host and I just dismissed it as another attack.

Cloudflare handles all connections to the forums, so cloudflare would be the one hit by the attack. That's the whole point.

Unless the attacker has the un-masked IP, in which case cloudflare can by bypassed completely.
