its a fun flash game but it shouldnt take 5000 loving dollars to make it.
you really underestimate the amount of money that games cost to make ... even if he did everything himself (which if you read the kickstarter, he doesn't want to - stretch goals are to outsource work) it would still cost money in terms of cost of living for the amount of time that he would need to put into the game
$5000 seems really cheap for a game like this. he wants to use the money to hire an artist. artists are not cheap.
With $5,000 I could hire artists for graphics and part of the cutscenes, and that alone would probably cut development time in half. And I think that's not bad for a start!
