I don't see why not.

It's more convenient and easy to use unlike the awkward mouse scroll button. I can even go back and forth on internet pages with my thumb without clicking the back button on the internet page.

Nope. I even use them for videogames. In Duke Nukem I use them to switch through items which is faster and more convenient.

In Chivalry I use them for extra attacks.

The mouse was like 30 dollars and it's a rechargeable lol. 30 dollars is pretty cheap.
