i really want a team battle mode to come out or something. it would be really cool to just have quick rounds and stuff where you build a ship and fight.

Is it possible to make a ship like a whale filter feeding but with asteroids?  Like I don't wanna mine stuff if I can just pilot it through an asteroid field slowly while the ship takes in and automatically processes asteroids into metals and stuff.

comr4de didn't bother to even think if it was possible, but it is. This game has so many tools at its disposal, and, from my experience, this is definitely possible. But it does seem a bit clumsy, unless you're devoted enough to work out all its problems.
