Author Topic: 3D Maneuver Gear Help  (Read 4679 times)

Basically I modeled the 3D Maneuver Gear set from Attack on Titan and was wondering if anyone was interested in coding it for me since I couldn't code it myself, even if my life depended on it.
It wouldn't be just the gear though, there's a couple of blades to go with it, too. It would either be the gear and blade separate, or all in one.
That's pretty much it, so here's what it looks like.

3dmg (View in 3D)

3dmg blockhead (View in 3D)

3dmgblade (View in 3D)

no, they are not ass mounted cannons.
no, it is not a buttset.

I might want to do it.
It would be like a mixture between a grapple rope and a hookshot.

EDIT:
Alright, I do want to do it.

Sweet model, I hope this happens.

So, it would be like this.
  • Left click- Shoot a hook
  • Right click- Swing your blade
Correct?

That blade reminds me of Dishonored. What is it based off of if it is based on anything?

It's from the Anime/Manga Attack on Titan

I was thinking more of a key for each hook, and left click would swing the blade.
Though I don't know if it would require a whole new playertype or not.

The keybind for a separate hook won't work out well.
For me, almost all my keys are mapped to something.

this needs to happen

soo much

How about the gear and the swords are treated as two separate items?

That way:
3DMG:
  • Mouse1:  Shoot hook, automatically pulls you toward it.  Allows for two cables only.
  • Mouse2:  Fire gas propellant.  Limited gas, will have to be refilled, allows for about 15 minutes of purely flight time.
Swords:
  • Mouse1:  Slash.
  • Mouse2:  Expel sword, will throw away a sword you are holding if it is broken.

I don't think this would work well either, seeing as the swords have triggers on the which both shoot the hooks and use gas.

It won't work the same way on a mouse, but suppose the triggers have a primary function, to fire hooks, and then a second level that deals with sensitivity of gas release?  Furthering that, there's a strange harness attached that has a lot of components in the legs, so what if the way you point your feet controls the gas release?

If all mouses had mouse wheel, using mouse 3 to switch modes might be a good idea.

I rather like this idea. But maybe it could be a key-bind in the controls menu, but mouse3 by default? Because I know for a fact not all mice's scroll wheels can be pressed down.

Right click and left click could be used for the hooks, while mouse 3 is for swinging and expelling blades (click and scrolling). Maybe mimic Feng's game controls?

You could also make the controls customizable.

Seeing as q and e are both default binds i wouldn't want to use his game controls.
But if we get this done we're probably going to make them customizable.

But I don't know how well DeadWolf is doing in the scripting or anything, so if this gets done I have no idea when.
