Author Topic: Xbox 360 Controller in Blockland - V2  (Read 3664 times)

The jump button can't be A, and it's really a mistake for games to use A as the jump button when you have control over the camera.
By moving your thumb to jump, you lose control of moving the camera.

This is why, if I were to use a controller for Blockland, I would set the left trigger to jumping.

It's not ideal to use a controller to build in Blockland.
I only use my controller for playing things like deathmatches and stuff.

Well, here's the thing.
I didn't want to use the controller to build. I just want to play on servers and stuff.
Not to mention you can edit the profile yourself so it does what you want.

so you figured out how to use software to map keys
gj

I did this once with a ps3 controller
This game is NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY designed for it.
Even for deathmatching, I could never make myself look the way I wanted.

This, I've made a support script for a wireless 3rd-Party PS3 controller and it worked horribly.
You just can never get it right, its easier and better to play with a mouse and keyboard.
The only server I found it useful for was Speed-kart.

I made this recently for Steam - appropriate to share here I think
Activating is the same as shooting...
And there's no way to move bricks up/down
Missed light key
Missed walk key
And there are soooo much more keys that can't fit on a controller.

I'm surprised nobody has though of this (I've made a topic on it before and it didn't get much attention), but the only way to have a fully working controller layout WITH building would have to require two modes in blockland: player and building mode. In player mode, you walk around and fire and all that as usual. In build mode, your camera would lock onto your ghost brick and you would be in control of ONLY the ghost brick. So you would be observing your ghost brick basically. You could build as normal in build mode, and can revert back to player mode at any time.

xpadder is the same exact thing

Well since you can't build, you can just build on PC then play on Xbox.

i don't know if this program detects when you hold down buttons but pinnacle does and is a lot better imo

How about (based on a Wii U pro controller):
 - ZL for fire
 - L for crouch
 - R for jump
 - ZR for jet
 - A for light/reload
 - B for cancel (ghost brick clear)
 - X for zoom
 - Y for free look
 - D-Up for scroll up
 - D-Down for scroll down
 - D-Right for paints
 - D-Left for tools
 - Left Stick for movement
 - Right Stick for the camera
 - Left Click for walking
 - Right Click for camera mode
 - Start for menu
 - Select for chat

it's been done plenty of times; this is literally the easiest and most cookie-cutter way to go about it

it basically makes the controller act like a funky keyboard instead of a controller
