For forget's sake that was 3 YEARS AGO.

and apparently its still relevant!!

but you're asserting that the chance of aliens existing is exactly zero

yeah

I never said that there's 100% certainty that there's aliens.

(even the tiniest sliver of a percent and the sheer number of planets mesns that there's an alien somewhere)

You know he was kidding about the screen, right?

OH MAN I HAD NO IDEA

Did you know that when you look at the stars, depending on how far they are, you are actually seeing what they looked like long ago? This is caused by the amount of time it takes for the light from the star to hit your eyes. Most stars appear as they were 200-500 years ago

and apparently its still relevant!!

yeah

OH MAN I HAD NO IDEA
I cannot tell if that's sarcasm.

I cannot tell if that's sarcasm.
it is.

EDIT: Tristan just stop seriously

at this point you're just shoving your opinion down Kearn's throat. the same way he believes they don't exist is the same way you believe they do, and I'm pretty sure he has a reason to believe so. I have no idea why it concerns you so much.

/title
I think so, I mean the universe is huge, there's bound to be another planet that can hold life like Earth
probably zillions of them, and a handful of intelligent life as well

its almost impossible that earth is the only planet holding life

the odds are so incredibly in favor of other life existing that it'd be foolish to ignore the chance
if anything our definition of life would be the main worry

I like how Tristan is going off about a possibility, yet he doesn't tolerate religion. If you can't see it, hear it, or feel it, then it doesn't exist right? After all, if there's a possibility for aliens, there's a possibility for a "God" figure. Just leave Kearn alone and let him believe what he believes. Is he hurting you by not believing in spacemen?

Personally, I believe/hope there's a chance of other races existing. There has to be at least one other race.

Of course! The universe is big enough that, if you use math, there are higher probabilities that Star Wars actually occured.
HAN SOLO SHOT FIRST!

if the multi universe thingy theory is actually true then yeah star wars has happened

The observable universe is 930,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 m in diameter
You're about 5 million billion billion metres off
, and there has been 13.7 billion years for such life to have come about.
Ftfy, and also, stars only started forming around a billion years after the big bang, so more like 13 billion. It's also incredibly unlikely for any sort of stable planetary system to have come about in those early stages, which cuts out another few billion years. It's really more along the lines of 10 billion.

Keep in mind that:
A) That's just the OBSERVABLE universe. The Universe proper could be much, much larger.
It is much larger. We just don't know by how much.

B) That's excluding any form of sufficiently advanced aliens that can time travel from the future to the past.
Oookay let me stop you right there. There is NO way to travel backwards in time. None. Whatsoever. It isn't even an open question among professional scientists; it simply is not possible. Travelling forwards in time is but that would only bring them further away from us right now assuming that intelligent life needs lots of time to evolve and grow.

If you think we're so special so as to be the only ones out there out of that HUGE amount of space-time, you're egotistical and insane.
If you think you're so special that you can say for certain that there is other intelligent life out there, then YOU are egotistical and insane.

Finding microorganisms would be common
sentient would be uncommon
Human-like would be rare

I don't really believe in extraterrestrial life, but I better say yes because Tristan is going to inject me with his opinion. jk incase this counts as flaming

Ahh, the first shot of a religion war
