I would check that you have the latest video card drivers, and that you don't have more than one GPU. My laptop has an intel chip and an nvidia chip. The intel one was being used by default and made many games perform poorly. Forcing the Nvidia one to be used fixed that.
Check those two, and you should be fine. Blockland isn't exactly intensive.
