Shorter than the alternative, so it's useful when I visit it on a tablet or phone.

On my computer though, I have it as a homepage and a bookmark (bookmark too because my homepage is two tabs and pressing home will open the second one too, which I might not want).

Why would you use blockland.us/smf for the sole purpose of it being shorter?
It's only one character shorter and requires writing less readily available special characters.
Not to mention the fact that it'll load slightly slower and may stop working at some point in the future.

Its a lot easier to type when its what youre used to typing that url. If you swapped your method of typing in the forum url you'd have to do a bit more concious thinking about in relation to what youre used to.
