Author Topic: Should I use an LCD TV as my computer monitor?  (Read 1202 times)

I was just reading that interactive use such as gaming is not ideal for this. The mouse somehow doesn't connect very well and it can increase lag and stuff

what? the screen has nothing to do with the mouse

In my experience purpose built monitors usually have clearer and more consistent imagery, and typically don't have the "resolution not supported" problem that you will usually get with a tv, but if you can find a good resolution and set up your colors well you should be fine.

I tried hooking up my PC to a 42" HDTV. It was a lot of work for my GPU but the first time I had my resolution set to 1920x1080

Works fine for me on my TV

My TV is clearer and supports more resolutions than any monitor I've ever had

OT: A 1080p makes for a great monitor, and can even be doubled as a TV (duh) if you want your xbox conveniently by your desk.

No just that the screen can become unresponsive, but a new TV shouldnt be doing that anyway

always use a purpose-built monitor

there's no reason to get an inferior "HD" TV when you have the option to get a monitor

The only difference between LCD and LED TVs are the backlighting. They both use LCDs to show images but the LED TV uses LEDs to control the backlighting.

This is the monitor I have now. I'm running it on an old game on a 14 year old computer, ah the memories, I loved that game

Yessssssssss

I love that game.

Usually TVs have much higher reponse times than monitors. It will work, but you might notice input lag.
