a production model and a prototype are two different things. they made the prototype

still, I guess I could be wrong. but whether this money is for the prototype or to start actual production, it doesn't matter, because this is all they're going to ask regular people for. after that it will be funded by the government

Interesting idea. However the average everyday solar panel is basically good for heating water and nothing else. Also solar panels are maintence intensive. People will vandalize them, they will fog up, crack, etc. Wind turbines and tidal generators would be the better way to go to power smaller areas.
