well there you go. if that doesn't work then boot up in safe mode, do a disk cleanup to clear out your temp folder and run another full scan i-

safe mode with malwarebytes

basically...

God damnit. Would you guys just help me out with this?
Your fault for mentioning it in the op
Seriously what did you expect

Listen, we could argue about which OS is better, or we could actually stay on topic. Which would you prefer?
You essentially created the argument in the OP. You state that you attempted to coerce your parents to switch from something they understand to something they don't. The reason it went off-topic so quickly is because you made it happen. Either take your "linux elite" attitude and gtfo or shut up.

It's not, but it's much less likely to get any sort of virus.
If you aren't an idiot no OS will get a virus. Stop running handicapped .exe files, we know it was actually you

1. I have my own computer that doesn't have Windows. I'm trying to fix my dad's computer, which everyone else uses.
2. I wouldn't just google a download for a game and then find an exe file from a random website.

If you don't know how to fix a computer, you are just going to break something in the process.

I made this thread asking for suggestions of what programs other than malwarebytes i should try in case that didn't work. I didn't even think until now to boot into safe mode and try it.

you know whos most likely to get no viruses? people with a brain

besides if they can barely use windows, i doubt they would be capable of starting up the mess that is linux.

Would you guys shut the forget up about Linux. I don't care if you don't like it. If you are going to post in this thread please post something helpful.

Then shut up and come back when you have something new to report about the situation.

It's not my computer. I'd rather not.

I have a habit of replying to anyone in my own threads who is directly talking to me. Sorry.

Use CCleaner and delete any random start up entries and of course wipe all temp/junk files
Also, do a spybot search and destroy and superantispyware scan (yea both are kinda old, but it can't hurt to use several scanners to make sure all the viruses and stuff are gone)

also, go search the registry for any strange crap if you really want to wipe out any trace manually (you better back it up/not mess with windows/microsoft stuff unless your dead certain it's not supposed to be there; delete the wrong thing, you forget up everything(from personal experience)) just google up the key before deleting it to not mess anything up further or better yet avoid it altogether
