What's far from true? All I said in that post was that those were the default controls for the wiimote+nunchuk. They don't use motion controls.
And how is that less clunky? I've tried playing with that before, and I can't do it. I need to have a stick.

i've dpadded through the campaign and subspace emissary missions, don't know what you're going on about
edit: Sm4sh demo is out now, everyone check the eShop. It has a 30-day limit however (Club Nintendo "special demos" are permanent)

Preference mostly.
Many people who still play Smash Bros. started on Melee (or N64, but more so Melee).
