Aside from being wired and not worrying about battery life, there's little to no delay between the controller and the system.

As long as the Wii is set up fine there usually isn't a significant delay anyways.
While I can see that extra 10ms being a bit of an issue to a professional, to most of us it just isnt an issue.

I've played with a gamecube controller, n64 controller, wiichuck and dpadmote, and I must say (probably unpopular opinion warning) The 3DS is my favorite way to control Smash to date.
