can someone tl;dr it please, I'm really tired and dont want to read 4+ pages of bitching about melee/advanced strats or techs

i guess a less-biased summation would be restating those as, "is it OK to prefer melee?" and "are advanced strategies OK to seek out, develop, and utilise in competitive play?"

the majority of the discussion wasn't really too uncivilised. basically at least one agreement was reached about the usage of advanced strategies in play: it's p ok. unsure of the status on melee; think that ended in a stalemate but i'm sure everyone walked away with interesting information
Aces:
I think the point is that to be able to compete with others on the competitive level you have to learn how to use them.
It's not being a tryhard as much as learning how these combos work. You can't prepare for what you don't know.

That's not really a lot to learn in comparison to fighters.

But I understand the point.

i just walked away with several people shunning me and being ridiculed by most of the thread.
Daswiruch:
aren't melee 'advanced techniques' just exploits?
Yosher:
people try way too hard to make this game resemble melee
