The nurse examines the burn on my head closely before applying medication and re-wrapping the wound with fresh gauze.
"Alright Casey, everything appears to be fine. No signs of infection and only a few patches of discoloration. You've healed up pretty well over the past week. Are you still experiencing any pain?"
"A little stinging, but nothing serious."
"That's good to hear. You should be ready to fly again in a few days. Do you have any questions for me before you leave?"
"Nope. That's everything."
"Great. Your prescription antibiotics will be ready for you at the counter on the way out. We'll be seeing you again in a few days."
"Thank you, nurse."
"You're very welcome. Take care now."
I suddenly stop at the door and turn around.
"Hey, uh... Joy? Would you be free this weekend by any chance? I was thinking maybe we co-"
"Already spoken for. Sorry honey."
"Oh. Okay. Well, thanks again."
Hey, you can't blame me for trying. She's quite the looker.
I leave the military hospital, prescription in hand. I stop by the lockers and pick up the laptop before heading back to the barracks and plopping down on my bunk. Figured it's about time I looked at some of the stuff on here.
