idk man, if i was some dude who saw dudes dressed as animals because it was their loving hobby I would be weirded out by reflex.
the "you make it a problem" defense doesnt really work because there is such thing as a gut reaction unless you're talking about verbally scoffing. i don't go up to furries when i see them and say "how horrible", i just cringe and look away.

You see something you don't like. You cringe, you look away, and you vent about it later. This is exactly how situations like this should be handled. That is mature and courteous.

I'm talking about actively putting people down for liking something you don't like, which was happening a lot in this thread.

I don't actively put down people other than mindless ranting on here. Which you witnessed before this whole argument started.

A person is telling someone to end their genetic line and to cease from influencing people because they don't like their opinions. From a biological standpoint, ending your genetic line is basically killing yourself. From a social standpoint, ceasing to spread your views removes you from society in a very large way.
I can kinda see what you mean biologically, but i totally disagree with your whole social thing. Not having kids doesn't stop you from influencing people or remove you from society immediately. Theres a multitude of things you could try and do during your lifetime to both influence people in your living years and beyond.

Now, everyone here: Take the roleplaying out of the equation. Say that you were approached by someone in a suit. They walk up to you and say "hi" like a completely normal person. They are not doing anything outside of the scope of actions a normal person would be performing at the time. They aren't even acknowledging the fact that they're wearing a suit; just going about their business like a normal person.

How would you react?

I'd be creeped out because I'm buying milk at a grocery store, not attending an amusement park

The suit is clean, dry, and doesn't look like a stuffty costume from a gradeschooler play. Same effect?

Why?

lmao, what, do you think we see fursuiters enough to even have the opportunity to scream at them and assault them or something? This thread is exactly the "mature way to handle these things" that you describe, you dweebus.

What about a mascot for your favorite team? And the mascot costume happens to be an eagle? Are you still grossed out? These are the people you root for.

Why?
"why the forget is this weirdo wearing a full animal costume in the middle of a supermarket. is he handicapped or something?"

mascot ≠ fursuit
im pretty sure the guys in the costume are just doing it to get drug money, not for loveual enjoyment/their own forgeted up interests

So it's too unusual for you?

How would you react?
"How could this happen to me?"

Ignoring the possibility of such an occurrence. How would you actually react in this situation?

I would mostly wonder why they walked up to me and said hi
