Exponential growth. It takes time for something to spread across the entire internet, what you're seeing is the end-effects of the growth. At first it only really happened on twitch where people knew about the joke, but then as time went on it spread to Youtube and stuff where people figured out the joke and started repeating it, causing mass confusion that inflated the search results.
