why NOT join it
dying is the worst thing that could happen to you

and you get to kill people too, and shoot a gun, and get your ass kicked, and look like a badass in your dress uniform

normally i'd go on about how you'd have to be nuts to not care about dying, but we're talking about sending you into the meatgrinder of freedom here, so I guess that's a real positive.

i've always wanted to serve in the armed forces. it would be a loving sweet thing to put on your resume "former U.S. marine". but i don't know what to join the marines as, or why i should join them

discuss the military/why you wont join/why you want to join
Former U.S. Marine from the Infantry wont get you far
oh
if you are allergic to anything will they let you join
depends on severity/if it will affect performance in the field

theres a guidebook for all the medical things that will get you disqualified. I think if your allergies can be controlled by over the counter medication you should be good

I'd be PDQ'd for my eczema

The only branch of the US Armed Forces I'd join would be the Coast Guard. I love boats, and water. Also the benefit of being a part of the military is that if you wanna go to medical school then it's free.

I would never join the military. Have to be crazy for that. I've had a friend, and a few cousins that went to Afghanistan multiple times. Hear nothing but horror stories about it.

I was supposed to start the training for the (Dutch) Air Force a few weeks ago but I said naw I'll do some education first.

What MOS are you considering going for if you enlist? There's a lot of jobs that don't directly involve shooting bullets at brown people all day you know. A lot of people don't seem to realize that about the military. Of course not going into an infantry role means everyone thinks you're a total pusillanimous individual but the structure needs people besides them to function efficiently.

you'd better get used to 0 humor and 0 smiling. from what the colonel and sergeant running the air force jrotc program here have told us, the marines are 100% serious all the time.

but hey at least you get to look forward to a lovey service coat right

Yeah that's what they're supposed to say to keep the pussies away.

You're also hearing that from a high ranking officer. Of course no one is messing around when he's on watch.

From the stories I've read online and heard from my enlisted friends, forgetery is at all time high in the enlisted ranks.

This is true, as long as you get your stuff done without any problems you can richard around as much as you want.
