Arizona is big, hot, and really boring.

Not exactly. Phoenix is an alright city, most of the time it's what you'd expect from the world's sixth largest city. Tempe is really good, Scottsdale is sooooo fun to be in, especially with all the concerts and live events, Glendale is hot and is mainly a relaxation zone, I live in Glenny because it's a cheaper environment.
