Author Topic: Isn't it possible to installed malicious software through a keyboard or mouse? (Read 737 times)

So when you plug in a new mouse what happens is that it installs device software, couldn't you possibly exploit that and say put a rat or keylogger on the computer? This is making me paranoid lol, that companies could possibly spy on you through your mouse.

If this is possible then why has no one done it yet?

when you plug in a mouse or keyboard, it downloads the driver(s) from the internet, not straight from the mouse

Well then, can't you hook up it to connect to their server then to your server?

theoretically yes, but then anti-virus programs would block it

I might be wrong, but doesn't (at least Windows) use the device's ID to go through and find any WHQL drivers first, and then does its own internet search for drivers? I don't think I've ever had a device which directly connects to a server on its own.
