So when you plug in a new mouse what happens is that it installs device software, couldn't you possibly exploit that and say put a rat or keylogger on the computer? This is making me paranoid lol, that companies could possibly spy on you through your mouse.

If this is possible then why has no one done it yet?

to op's credit a mouse that doubled as a usb drive would be useful

theoretically yes, but then anti-virus programs would block it

I might be wrong, but doesn't (at least Windows) use the device's ID to go through and find any WHQL drivers first, and then does its own internet search for drivers? I don't think I've ever had a device which directly connects to a server on its own.
