well that's not really new

5x - 3(x - 6) = 2
Solve for X.

Be sure to show your work, or else you get no credit!

5x - 3x + 18 = 2
2x = -16
x = -8

Today in class I was loving around on my laptop instead of paying attention (gg me) and literally missed the entire lecture. At the end, the teacher handed out a review quiz based on today's content. I looked up at the board as she erased everything and tried to remember everything I saw that looked like an equation.

First question was to find the derivative of a function. Absolutely zero idea how to do it. I saw a random equation on the board (as it was being erased) that said (f(x-h) - f(x))/h and based on my knowledge that a derivative is the slope of a function at a given point I figured that made sense.

Aced the quiz. 100%. Dunno how I did it.

"Hah, what is this amateur stuff?"
-Calensk, Papers please

Let's see if i can do this.

5x - 3(x - 6) = 2

5x - 3x + 18 = 2

2x + 18 = 2
      -18    -18
2x = -16
2x/2 = -16/2

x=-8

5x - 3(x - 6) = 2
Solve for X.

Be sure to show your work, or else you get no credit!
Code: [Select]
5x -3(x-6) = 2 (It's not minus three it's negative three)
5x - 3x+18 = 2 (Expand Brackets)
5x - 3x (Ignore the -18=2 for now)
2x +18 = 2
2x +18-18 = 2-18 (The way I learnt it is to do the opposite and do the same to both sides)
2x = -16
2x/2 = -16/2
x = -8

wowe already been solved :(
