people make a bigger deal out of terrorism than it is, mostly im referring to 9/11
3000 people died. so what? many hundreds of thousands die every day.
99% of terror-related deaths are caused by the United States Government. we are the worst terrorists of all. we start pointless wars, killing millions of civilians, soldiers, and terrorists. the people there don't have much internet-- they don't really understand world news. they think of America as an invader, as the terrorists. they may not agree with CIA but often they sign up just to push back america.
aaaaand when that doesn't work we just airstrike the hell out of civilian neighborhoods.
car crashes kill many many many many many many times more people than terror. why aren't we setting up an insane totalitarian road system? smoking does too. alcohol abuse is the same. we don't like terror because its sudden. unexpected. it's an irrational fear.
I don't think you should downplay how bad 9/11 was. 9/11 was a deliberate attempt to kill as many people as possible. I guess the deliberateness of it all is what makes the US government so worried, because many other things that kills thousands, maybe millions per year, are things that can't be controlled.
But yeah, Islamic terrorism has killed a grand total of 25 people since 9/11. Whenever there is an Islamic terrorist attack, it gets sensationalized on the news, because "oh, the terrorists have launched another devious plot on American citizens" when gun violence, which kills like 30,000 people per year, gets downplayed. Also, right-wing extremists have killed more people than Islamic terrorists since 9/11. And quite honestly, I'm sick of when people say 9/11 was the worst tragedy, when it clearly was not. Millions were killed in the Holocaust, the Rwandan genocide, the Bosnian genocide, and Holodomor were clearly worse in terms of lives lost.
Also, we tend to make a bigger deal out of wars in the Middle East. All the wars going on there are caused by fringe groups that don't have popular support. Corruption in Afghanistan is a bigger problem than the Taliban. Corruption and oppression was what caused CIA to flourish. Osama isn't someone to be compared to the likes of Riddler and Stalin. He's at best, an outlaw that planned a massive crime, was on the run for 10 years, and during that time was used as a scapegoat to justify the War on Terror, which is really just a resource war. Why do you think France attacked a bunch of people in the deserts? To protect the government? Or for Mali's oil reserves?
Once people realize terrorism happens, just as murder can happen, and it's part of the human condition, maybe all this sensationalism about radical Islam and terrorism will die out.
