Author Topic: Just picked up new HDMI gold cables for £6 (like $10)  (Read 1454 times)

You can't even say they look better because you generally can't see the contacts. :V

I think gold would be more than 6 pounds
Gold is pretty heavy
*Badum-tss*

Get a Samsung or LG monitor, my LG monitor is 1080x1920 and was only 150 euro.

I'd rather the resolution be the other way around but if that's how you float your boat...

what's it like playing vidya in portrait

i run display port and optical. but im a compooter guy
i actually researched this last night and apparently HDMI is better for audio signals than optical because it can carry lossless audio codecs like Dolby Digital true HD or DTS HD. Which, honestly, doesn't make hardly any difference, but it's kind of a neat lil fun fact lol.

The issue with using hdmi for sound is that no good speakers will use hdmi.... And why on earth would I use a video port to output sound. Why on earth do I want to use built in monitor speAkers.

All that quality you may be saving by using hdmi is lost 4 times over by that other hardware.

yeah i agree, i don't think i've ever actually seen someone use an HDMI cable exclusively for audio purposes.

only reason to use hdmi is if you run a monitor with a resolution bigger than 1920x1200 and dont want a clunky connector (vga, dvi)

If you run a resolution bigger than 1920x1200, you might as well use Display Port.
HDM I is great for taking it out and plugging it in fast.

kinda off topic, but is how much better is HDMI compared to DCI? is it worth spending more money on a monitor that has HDMI ports?

YOU MEAN DVI?

its not worth it
both have the same quality but goddamn dvi is big and annoying as forget to handle
