Author Topic: Some states have passed laws preventing Tesla from selling cars in stores  (Read 2840 times)

I don't think big car manufacturers see Tesla as much of a threat as people like to believe. I can think of many more places where a Tesla wouldn't be viable as compared to a normal car. Pretty much anywhere even slightly rural and anyone commuting. Not to mention they're still pretty expensive.

Nah Tesla motors is definitely a threat.  When Tesla starts pumping out their economy model car, stuff is plausible to hit the fan.

youd think after all the investments and work they put into the oil/fuel power they wouldnt let little gaymobile plug-in cars like forgetin frebreeze chargables take over the vehicle experience

If those economy models can get way more  range, maybe. But current battery technology is a very serious limitation to electric cars as it is right now. They can maybe get around the limitations of batteries with those battery changing stations but without a massive rollout of them they won't be viable in many places.

Don't get me wrong I like the Tesla but I just don't see it being a major game changer until batteries are much better than they are today.

Not shocked or surprised but this is bullstuff

I want my damn Model S

Here's a magic word:

Oligopoly

Damn this country, reason we can't have nice things.

Hope Tesla pours the pain onto the other companies and pulls through.

There is really nothing that Tesla can do but work with it.

It doesn't seem like Tesla is hurting big manufactures as much as they are hurting third-party dealers. This was the case in Texas, where third party dealers lobbied the state's government to ban the sale of their cars. Tesla uses a direct-sales model, where showrooms are owned by the company, circumventing things like up-pricing and middlemen.

208 miles on a full charge for the base model, and the Tesla superchargers can give you a 50% charge in 20 minutes.

Tesla is really starting to make a lot of these charging stations. It's now completlely possible to travel cross country without stopping to pay for gas:

You act like you back out of your drive way with a Tesla and you have to immediately charge it again...

I don't know how much you drive in a day, but a Tesla is probably fine for your needs.

Their website is pretty nicely designed, it kinda makes me want to buy one...

Do you guys think you save money in the long run with not having to pay for gas even though you're spending 75k min. a car?

$63,570*

And no... But it's still an amazing car. It's competing with higher end cars...
