Author Topic: My first blender model  (Read 657 times)

So after a hefty 12 hours of understanding blender, i finally tamed the beast.

I made my first cup with blender, to be honest i find it fun to model now.

I am very proud of what i have made today :)

But im not sure if this belongs in any board so i just decided to put this in off topic.

For future reference, you're going to want to put that here http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=61695.0

Anyway, looks like a mug :D

Probably better than I could do in blender...

Oh thanks, but it might be too soon for me to move it like this.

And yes it is a mug, i got inspired by one of my mugs i have at home.

i made one too lets be bffs

The only reason I'm not releasing vehicles is because I can't model in blender. Sketchup is easy as dirt but the models don't transfer, I'm not paying for milkshape, and blender is confusing.

Looking good though. Looks awesome for a first model.

How did you make the curves so smooth?

Make sure your "T" menu is open (on the left side) and when you have the model selected press "Smooth" instead of "Flat". Also add a modifier called "Subdivision Surface".

Can you make a right handed mug next?

My mug can be held with both hands.

it looks like a left handed mug though.

That looks like a painted barrel with a handle.

I can't say that my mug was better, though. I had a WONDERFUL time adding in all of those extra polygons just to seal the handle to the mug. That problem probably stemmed by trying to make it one whole object...
