Author Topic: well this week has been terrible  (Read 1224 times)

i don't get why, but so far in the past 7 - 8 days, 4 of my chickens were attacked by a hawk, only one of them lived, and just an hour ago one of my dogs, sadey, had to be put to sleep. i've known her for 12 years, and just the other day she had watered eyes or such, she probably had a stroke or something. it's harder to remember not knowing her, honestly. and of course this happens right after 3 of the chicks from the first clutch i've hatched get attacked, two of them die and just one lived. and then the next time he attacks, it's the mother of two babies that she managed to lay the eggs of under my shed, the babies hadn't even left her side.

i'm sorry if anyone still wanted a christmas avatar, but i don't think i'll be able to get to that anytime soon. i'll try and make sure the presents are given out.

i'm sorry
i wish things get better for you in the future

dude just shoot the hawk with any shotgun

i live in a dense-ish neighborhood which rules out any weapon that uses bullets, and their's a 1.2k fine for killing one. we got poultry wiring up so they're fine now, but we could never get the hawk as he flew away before anyone could get a shot on him with a pellet gun

and to think i was upset about a roof

That sucks dude, chickens are awesome (so are hawks but not when they are hurting aforementioned chickens)

this reminds me of a story. these people we know have a farm, with chickens. the person who lives by raises falcons/hawks or something. it starts circling where the baby chicks are, and its about to get one. so they shoot it with the shotgun. about 30 minutes later, the neighbor comes over and asks "have you seen my bird?"

michigan

but it makes a loud enough sound and there's houses and roads everywhere near me

i'd rather have gun safety then a dead hawk, especially when the poultry wire fixed the problem
