What is the "Blockland gold beta test" scam?

Author Topic: What is the "Blockland gold beta test" scam?  (Read 2347 times)

Was browsing a forum post about how someone put a weird face on centerprint, and as you all know how internet browsing goes, one click leads to another and i stumbled upon this:

What is this, i need more explination and how to avoid it other than block and report users saying:
GIVE ME YOUR BLOCKLAND KEY AND I'LL HOOK YOU UP WITH BLOCKLAND GOLD BETA TEST

I think the one main thing that could happen is it'll link you to a website for signing up for it, so you can avoid it easily if you know it's not real.

For the most part these scams are nonexistent now. It also only takes an IQ of >0 points to avoid such a scam in the first place, so there isn't much to worry about.

How to avoid a situation like this: Don't give out your ket.dat file or your Blockland key. Done.

Isn't this just a rebranded "Facebook Gold" trolling that turned into a meme?

Basically there are some trolls posting messages like:
[You need a Facebook Gold™ account to view this message]
And people think they actually need such an account while it doesn't exists and never will.

Its pretty simple. Don't enter you key.
ANYWHERE.
Except for the Blockland game of course.

wasnt there an actual user who made up some "blockland gold sign up" google form to get peoples keys?
