Author Topic: Tactical Extraterrestrial Combat On Blockland Grids  (Read 5653 times)



EXALT-4 and EXALT-1 fire rockets, killing off the aliens. The Cyberdisc(Nicknamed by EXALT-1) violently spins out of control and crashes next to the Boxranger before exploding next to EXALT-3. Somehow, he survives. Artremis then "defuses" the C4 by carrying it away from the Boxranger and blowing it up at a safe distance.



It is time to breach a UFO. Do not use explosives anywhere near the exterior or interior of a UFO, as we need the technology to survive. The remaining aliens should be waiting inside, ready to shoot at anything that enters. You might be able to improve the chances of survival by covering your entrance with something.....

Combat Info
  • EXALT-3 survived the explosion, but his injuries are even worse. He will die in 3 turns. Nobody on your squad has a Medkit.
  • UFO Breaching is the #1 cause of death for X-COM and EXALT agents. The #2 cause of death is stepping off the boxranger/skyranger, because the aliens like to wait.
  • Miniature UFOs explode when shot. EXALT-1 recommends we call it a Cyberdisc.

Welp

On a side note, can anyone get me a better looking smoke emitter that doesn't look like stuff? I honestly don't care if it will dissapear at an angle.

Research some kind of homing  ullet technology or maybe plasma.

get EXALT-2 to chuck the grenade in there, and the entire team (minus one protecting behind) to breach and clear immediately after the grenade blast.



The grenade explodes, destroying some of the alien artifacts. The explosion shockwave disorients and/or kills most of the aliens. The rest of the team rushes the UFO and captures the stunned aliens. Unfortunately, they die in mid-flight.

We have some downtime before the next UFO contact. Now what?



We have $100 worth of funds. EXALT-3 will be out of action until he recovers from almost dying. Atremis and EXALT-3 were promoted to Squaddie. We are in need of soldiers, since most of them got wiped out stepping off the Skyranger.

We have 9 alien corpses we can sell. GUNS are only destroyed in explosions, and ammo is free. We probably won't need to buy more guns. GRENADES(other than the flares) are used up when thrown, so we'll be going through them a lot. Grenades can be PRIMED or THROWN. Primed grenades never go off in your hand, only when you drop them. This can be used to get revenge on enemies that kill squadmates with melee. Sounds useless, but wait and see....

The Auto-Cannon is automatic but slightly weaker, and the Heavy Cannon is semiautomatic and powerful. Both of them can fire Armor Piercing, High Explosive, or Incendiary rounds. AP rounds are not recommended. Use HE or IN rounds.


EXALT Operations are avalible!
Doing a EXALT operation will usually require you to send operatives out into the field.
PROPAGANDA: Spread misinformation and cause panic. This will hurt X-COM financially, because their funding can be reduced if this is successful. You can send a maximum of 4 Covert Operatives.
SABOTAGE: Steal money from X-COM.
RESEARCH HACK: Slow down X-COM research so they don't kick your ass with Power Armor and Plasma Rifles.
COUNTER COVERT OPERATION: Infiltrate X-COM and steal data from them. You can send a maximum of TWO Covert Operatives. You will have to extract them a few days later.
EXALT TERROR MISSION: Massacre civilians and face off against X-COM. This can also cause panic and reduce X-COM funding, but it is riskier than propaganda.
RETALIATION: Send a plane to search for an X-COM Base.
X-COM BASE ASSAULT: Attack X-COM's base. Extremely risky. Cannot perform without discovering location of X-COM Base.
INFILTRATION: Trick a country into resigning from the X-COM Project, cutting all funding. Insufficient resources to perform

This is no longer "heavily inspired by", this is just a straight ripoff. Of an existing ripoff. Can't you make a single forum RP that isn't 90-100% lifted from something else?

There's Bandit Adventure, but that one is dead. There is also The Assassination, but that one probably wouldn't count due to Fallout-ish stuff mixed in with legos.
