That too ,I hate when teachers are like "Read!" I'm like "Seriously? I've read the entire harry potter, Eragon, LOTR, Percy Jackson, ETC and you want me to read?"

try some classics that'll introduce you to new styles. i'd suggest authors like arthur c. clarke (space odyssey and rama series), douglas adams (hitchhiker's guide series, very entertaining), and jules verne (classical "science fiction). other good books to check out are the ender's game series and the giver.
