Author Topic: 8x8 cubes are shorter than 8 1x1s stacked on top of eachother  (Read 4847 times)

I was partially unsure as to where to put this, but I guess I'll put it here because it's partially mind-numbing.

Going from the left to the right is an 8x8 cube, an 8x8 modter cube, and an 8x8 zonebrick, as well as 8 1x1s stacked on top of eachother.

The 8 1x1s are 4 1x1fs taller than the 8x8 cubes.

thats because normal bricks are actually rectangles and all sides are not equal?

The 8 1x1s are 41 1x1fs taller than the 8x8 cubes.
yes that is mind-numbing

cubes are in potency of 2, if anyone wonders.

i built one with legos just to measure

it's pretty much a perfect cube

that's why it's 6 2/3 bricks tall and not 8

Should be called 6 2/3 x 6 2/3 Cube :cookieMonster:

its still 8 studs wide though mld are you high tonight

6 2/3 x 8 x 8 Cube
Rolls right off the tongue

Oops

Oh well, it's already said and done, i can't take it back now

6 2/3 x 8 x 8 Cube
Rolls right off the tongue
wouldnt it be 8 x 8 x 6 2/3

The 1x1 is 1x1x1.2.
1x1 is only accounting for the x and z axis, not the Y. 8x8 is 8 units tall, not 8 1x1x1.2 bricks tall.

Fix'd

Blockland uses the Zed as up/down, as it should be. Idk how it goes when modeling and exporting but in game that's how it is.

One 1x1x1 is 5x5x6 units tall, not including the stud (actual Lego brick that is, assuming Blockland is the same proportion though).  Taking an 8x8x8 cube in Blockland, you need 8x8 (40x40) on the bottom and 40 units tall.  40/6 is  6 2/3 (6 bricks 2 plates).  Thus, the 8x8x8 cube is actually a cube.

Edit: A plate is 2 units tall. (2x3plates = 1 brick high)
Edit2: So the smalles cube you can make is a 2x2x2 cube.  Below that, you cant get 5/6s of a brick.
