OP your newspost is from a hella slanted website. I'll respond to your points in bold
Witness statements. Everyone seems to agree he had nothing but rocks. You can't shoot everyone holding a rock.
1) Eyewitnesses are stuff-tier as far as evidence goes. If I walked into a bank with an airsoft gun without the orange cap, everyone can /agree/ that I'm holding a real gun.
2)If this guy was attacking cops, yes he can be shot. I don't know what kind of reality people live in where they think they can just attack cops and walk away from it but in real life there are consequences for your actions
The other important fact is that this police force has now killed 4 people in 6 months. So averaging 8 this year, in a city of 270,000. That is unbelievably high...
For reference, In the entire Ontario, Canada, There were also 4 fatal cop shootings in 6 months in 2011. For a population of 13 million.
This is a false equivalence and you know it. Cut that stuff out right now
In New York, a population of 8+ million, there were 9 fatal shootings in a year by cops.
again, false equivalence. there are a lot of other compounding factors you're failing to take into account
Why the forget don't cops use rubber bullets and bean-bag/rocksalt shells more often? They need to remember to SUBDUE, not KILL the suspect!
That stuff isn't exactly effective. When you have adrenaline pumping it's pretty easy to just shrug that stuff off.
Well that was unjustified. The cops were literally in a perfect distance to just taze the guy, but no they precede to just shoot the guy even when their lives aren't even really in danger. Idiots.
I read on a news site that didn't edit the footage to fit their agenda that they DID taze him the first time, that's why he started booking it. Tasers aren't 100% effective. Sometimes the leads don't connect properly.
I think the rule of thumb is that even though he threw a rock he shouldn't have been shot to death because there was literally nothing else he could do to harm the cops
rock < guns
Rocks can still harm. Thrown right, a rock can kill. Don't give me this stuff, I know you of all people are better than this.
Honestly I'm gonna wait to see what the car dashcam footage shows. Right now we're seeing what happened from a perspective of ~75 feet away. I know that these sort of incidents are easy to get worked up over but a knee-jerk reaction is gonna cause more hurt in the long run than any good it does in the short term.
